Praise for Pav

23 May 2011
Harry Redknapp believes Roman Pavlyuchenko showed what he is all about with the two stunning strikes that beat Birmingham on Sunday.

The Russian came off the bench for the injured Peter Crouch shortly before half-time and opened the deadlock with a beautiful curling 20-yard effort four minutes after the break.

Birmingham levelled the scores 10 minutes from the end, but deep into added time, ‘Pav’ struck again with a dipping shot from the edge of the box that crashed home off the bar.

They were the 13th and 14th goals of what has been an up and down season for the 29-year-old, but his manager knows exactly what he is capable of.

Harry said: “Pav took his goals well and he's always likely to do that, he's a great striker of the ball. He's got so much ability.

“You watch him in training every day, his movement, his finishing, he's top-drawer. He's a good lad, comes in and works hard and he's so laid back.

“He can play, he's a good player. He's got dynamite in his boots, like his goals, he can do that - 25 yards and bang. He's got that ability. He's a clever mover as well.”
